Animation

Animation is one of the more technically demanding industries to apply to. Animation portfolios usually focus on strong drawing and creative exploration.
You will need to be proficient in:

– Figure drawing
– Anatomy (especially hands)
– Linear and non-linear perspective
– Character design
– Storyboarding
– Basic animation

* Although the animation portion itself is usually done digitally now, most colleges and universities expect their portfolios to be hand-drawn in traditional media such as pencil on paper.
While each industry has its own set of expectations, what we have noticed is that there is a growing emphasis on the use of technology and the development of abstract, creative processes as well as technical skill.
Upon completion of this program, the student will demonstrate the ability to ideate original concepts and content for the express purpose of portfolio application to their desired professional field. The student will develop materials consistent with post-secondary portfolio applications including: drawing, design, storytelling/storyboarding, artistic exploration and animation.
Additionally, the student will learn to accurately and confidently produce innovative artistic content using professional materials fashioned for both post-secondary application, as well as personal development and project creation.
