3 Hour Each Class (20 classes) 5 Months Program
Description: This course is designed to help you get your first job in the animation industry! We will cover advanced animation techniques, including storytelling, acting, and creating strong concepts. By the end of this course, students will have four strong pieces for their animation demo reel and be ready to create their own short film.

Classes are hosted all year round
Class Structure:
- Settle in (15 min)
- Live critic of each person’s work (30 min)
- Intro lesson (45 min)
- Question time (15 min)
- Break/ Previous Assignment Critic (15 min)
- Class time (1 hour)
Audience:
This course is for adults or college graduates who are looking to enter the animation industry as animators.
Unit 1: Strengthen weaknesses (1 Class)
Description:
In this class, we will identify the areas of animation where students are struggling the most and address them by going through targeted lessons and short exercises. The class will be personalized to each student.
Homework:
Students will prepare character, storyboard and audio for their next assignment.
Unit 2: Anthropometric (Animal) Animation + Lip Sync (4 Classes)
Description:
In this class, students will create an animation using anthropomorphic characters and study the mouth and leg movements of an animal. The character will perform an action and say a short line of dialogue.
Homework:
Student will work on assignment and get as much done as possible for next class. Creating layout for animation is optional.
Last class homework:
Student will prep idea, audio, and storyboard for next class
Unit 3: Evoke Emotion Music Animation (4 Classes)
Description:
In this class, students will create an animation set to a short section of a song, using color, story, and camera movements to convey an emotion to the audience.
Homework:
Student will work on assignment and get as much done as possible for next class. Creating layout for animation is optional.
Last class homework:
Student will prep idea, audio, and storyboard for next class
Unit 4: Character Acting + Lip-sync (Whole Body) (4 classes)
Description:
Students will study acting from everyday life and incorporate subtle nuances for believable animation. This exercise will also touch up on animating and lip-sync that reflects upon the emotion of the character.
Homework:
Student will work on assignment and get as much done as possible for next class. Creating layout for animation is optional.
Last class homework:
Student will storyboard and create a character design for the next assignment.
Unit 5: Character Action Scene + FX (6 Classes)
Description:
In this course, students will use their knowledge of storytelling to create a short story with a dynamic scene featuring a character. They will use different camera angles to portray their story, and there will be two classes out of the six dedicated to teaching students FX animation. They will incorporate at least one FX into their action scene.
Homework:
Students will work on the assignment and complete as much as possible for the next class. Creating a layout for the animation is optional.
Last class homework:
Students will prepare their portfolio and interview skills.
Unit 6: Portfolio + Interview Prep (1 Class)
Description:
Students will have a class on Portfolio and Interview advice and a class.
